Of the many thousands that have congratulated me for tossing my hat into the ring for the Presidency of these United States, several have asked be about my platform.
Actually, not one soul has congratulated me.
Not one has asked me about my platform.
I was just practicing bearing of false witness as practiced by more experienced politiciansjust to see what it was like.
I didnt like it so I wont be able to use that political strategy in my campaign.
Although nobody else has an interest in my platform I decided to present it anyway.
I was wondering what it was or even if there was such a platform. I leave so many things undone. Why, just the other day my wife said, John, you leave so many things undone. You just get started on something and then you walk away from it. Thats why you let those other guys get the Nobel Prize for ceramic superconductors with the high Tc.
I did have an interest in ceramic superconductors with a high Tc when I was an engineering professor at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. I had the ability to grow special crystals. My object was to find a solid state physics graduate student in the Physics Department and have him determine the Tc and other important properties.
One student was interested but decided not to change his thesis project. Some years later I got a letter from him saying he wanted to do it after all, not as a graduate student but as a professor at a western university. He included in the letter copies of several papers I had asked him to read. At this same time a friend wanted me to help him design a superconductor railroad. I was too busy putting new ceramic dinnerware factories into operation. Read about superconductors at http://www.chemistryexplained.com/St-Te/Superconductors.html
Now you are going to say, He was supposed to write his platform but he went off on a superconductivity tangent.
Well, there is a relationship between what is called the Meissner effect and politicians. A magnetic field can not penetrate a superconductor so you can float a magnet on a superconductor. See the picture at the URL. That is what my railroad building friend wanted to do. The magnet floats around with no apparent means of support. Such is the case with politicians. There is no apparent substance or platform to support them. They just float around.
A platform is just a bunch of promises not kept. Here is my platform and I dont suspect that any of them will come to pass. Lets go anyway:
1. All wars will be fought by elected officials, their sons, their daughters, their nephews, their nieces, their grandkids, and if necessary their wives and great grandkids.
2. Executives of publicly held companies shall have no benefits other than those held by all other employees in the company. The top salary paid to an executive shall not exceed 20 times the hourly wage paid to the lowest paid employee. He or she will be paid for all hours worked except those hours worked in his or her domicile. So will all other employees.
3. Congress shall not meet for more than two weeks in any given year. There will be no restaurants, gyms, medical care units, or other such facilities operated for the soul benefit of the congress and its operations.
4. During a gasoline shortage, the government motor pools will be shut down until the gasoline supply is rejuvenated. Government employees will not be given a mileage allowance for driving their own vehicles. All military aircraft will be grounded and ships (except nuclear powered ones) will be required to pull into the nearest port.
5. Politicians will be able to hop military transports to foreign lands where they have business only if the military has scheduled the flight for an important reason other than carrying a politician. However, they will have to find their way home on their own hook. Politicians will be paid $5,000.00 a day for everyday they are out of the country and living on their own funds. A minimum stay of 365 continuous days will be required to collect this bonus subsidy.
6. No taxes of any kind will be collected from senior citizens over the age of 65 years. That includes federal, state, and local taxes including school taxes, etc. Folks over 65 will never pay for utilities or admission to movies or sporting events.
7. A free college education will be provided to every high school senior student (and some bright juniors) having a cumulative grade point average of B and who attended every day of school during his or senior (or her junior) year except the days he or she had the bird flu or an appendectomy, etc. This education will be paid for by Bill Gates and Warren Buffet through their foundations.
8. No congressman shall be elected for more than two terms of any length in the House, the Senate, or combination of the two.
9. The President shall not engage in any military activity whatsoever without the consent of 2/3rds of the Congress, both House and Senate, and 85% of the governors of the 50 states and its territories. The approval period shall be limited to 7 days during which period the approval must be confirmed by 90% of the people in the country being attacked. No military activity will take place until final approval is obtained. Exception: Since the United States is still officially at war with North Korea, no approval for actions against North Korea need be obtained but it would be polite for the President to do unto North Korea as they threaten to do unto us.
10. Lee Iacocca will be brought out of retirement to save General Motors before they abandon their retirement fund and drop that humongous burden on the United States. All assets of company executives will be commandeered for defunct pension funds before one cent is paid out by the federal government.
Well, thats a start!
P.S. If the bird flu epidemic subsides, there will also be a chicken in every pot as promised by Herbert Hoover in 1928. However, there will be 3 cars in every garage. See http://www.presidentsusa.net/1928slogan.html

"The world is leaving one epoch, the 'Cold War,' and entering a new one. We have buried the Cold War at the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea" [Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev, Malta, December 1989].
Who stands to gain the most from the destabilization of oil prices?
Ten years ago Russia was in a state of disarray reminiscent of the Seventeenth Century. Putin's predecessor, Boris Yeltsin, had secured re-election in 1996 only by turning the privatization of the Russian energy sector into a sleazy scam, trading oil and gas fields for campaign contributions. Meanwhile, ordinary Russians had to endure rampant inflation and unemployment. As former Soviet republics and Warsaw Pact allies queued up to join NATO, the superpower seemed really to have become - as the Cold War joke had it - Upper Volta with missiles.
Then, at the end of 1999 Vladimir Putin took over, and since then he has ruthlessly reasserted the Kremlin's control over the energy sector - in fact over the entire country. When it comes to energy, Putin's Russia seems prone to loutish behaviour, despite constant claims that Russia is a reliable partner. Russian officials have made no secret of wanting to keep big oil projects in the family, and thus have pushed out of the country pretty much all major oil players, from Royal Dutch Shell to Mitsubishi. And the Kremlin has often intimidated neighbours with threats to cut off their oil or gas supplies. Last winter, for example, Russia appeared to blackmail the Ukraine's new pro-western government by cutting off the country's gas amid a dispute over prices. Early this year, when Lithuania had the temerity to sell an oil refinery to a Polish firm instead of a Russian one, the pipeline that supplies the refinery with Russian oil suddenly succumbed to a mysterious technical fault.
Through these bullying methods Russia's economy has bounced back, with growth averaging almost 7 percent and inflation coming down into single digits, and has enabled the country to once again re-establish its former political clout throughout the world. So much so, in fact, that at the recent international conference on Security Policy in Munich the Russian President declared that a "unipolar world", meaning a world dominated by the United States, would "plunge into an abyss of permanent conflicts".
Maybe so, but what would happen to a world dominated by Putin's Russian Federation?
His Russia is an energy empire, sitting on more than a quarter of the world's proven reserves of natural gas, 17 percent of its coal and 7 percent of its oil. America, for geographical and political reasons is not one of Russia's main customers, but three-fifths of Europe's natural-gas imports and one-fifth of its oil come from Russia. Energy is a weapon with which Vladimir Putin seems to be intent at restoring the lost greatness of the Soviet Empire. No longer needs Russia to go beg the West for money cap in hand, as it did in Boris Yeltsin's days. Now it can stand tall once more, not the least among the neighbouring former Soviet countries that many in Moscow have never reconciled themselves to losing.
Mr. Putin's use of energy as a weapon is only one instance of a newly-found Russian assertiveness that nowadays seems to border on gangsterism, as clearly pointed out by the assassination of former Russian Agent Alexander Litvinenko in London in December, 2006. Polonium has its merits.
Russia's geopolitical power has become a function of its energy exports. As history teaches us, the energy crisis of the 1970's helped the Soviet economy very much even has it hurt the West, by bathing the ailing Soviet system in petrodollars. But as oil prices slid below an average price of USD 20 per bbl. from 1986 through 1996, Russian power and prestige slid too. It is no coincidence that the price of oil touched USD 11 per bbl. in Yeltsin's miserable last year.
As the renaissance of Russia is now well under way, one can't avoid wondering the political implications of today's very expensive oil, for which we all pay out of our own pockets. Quite simply Russia is, after all, the only major power that has an interest in high oil prices, both economic and political. Which then conversely means that Russia is the only major power with no interest whatsoever in the stability of the Middle East. And it shows.
Russia poses America's biggest problem when it comes to stopping Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons capability. Russia is the one supplying Iran with more than 3000 centrifuges for the enrichment of uranium. Russia is fomenting anti-Americanism throughout the region as well as sowing the seeds of discord among Arabs. Russia's condemnation of President Ahmadinejad's repeated calls for Israel to be wiped off the map was lukewarm, at best. Russia is building the Iranian nuclear reactor at Busher, and the Russians have recently been awarded the contract to build an additional six such plants.
So, would this be the world with the Russian Federation at the helm? A world where destabilization of the Middle East would guarantee high energy prices on which Russian power has come to depend?
Some things never seem to change.

I think those who visit this site already seriously think about their health and want to change their appearance for the better. And you understand already that it highly depends from your way of nutrition.
Simple limitation of foodstuffs you like will not help for a long time. Nobody can follow this diet long enough. After some time you become tired from all dietetic foodstuffs. You will want something not dietetic but tasty. You will not want to look at apples, curd, boiled meat. And here you may break your weight loss program for day, two days and even for several weeks.
May be the right thing to do is mono diet? This is kind of diet that is based on one foodstuff. For example on Monday you eat only apples, on Tuesday only kefir/yoghurt, on Wednesday only curd and so on. I think you will be tired from that kind of diet even sooner than if you would follow the low-calorie or low-carb diets. In case of mono diet it is harder to resist natural organism reaction to get something tasty.
Real-world example: Kefir/yoghurt is the foodstuff you like! You think if you like it there will be no problem to have three days of mono diet based on kefir/yoghurt. First day was gone almost easy. Next day you think that kefir is not as tasty as it was. You think that sausage would be much better. In the evening you feel yourself unhappy. You see sweet-shop in your night dreams. In the morning you make rush to the fridge. The mono diet is ended.
So, why we break weight loss program in one ill-fated moment. Why hunger overcomes us?
Sometimes it occurs when stomach is not really empty after some lunch or dinner. Then why?
The answer is in this case you feel hunger as a result of changing sugar level in your blood.
How strange is it! - you may think. But I did not have sugar even in my tea. I ate only two small sweets!
As a matter of facts not sugar but glucose level raises in blood that provokes hunger feelings. We get it eating some foodstuffs reach with carbohydrates. Even a small sweet may provoke strong hunger feeling.
Conclusion: Not to feel strong hunger you must limit carbohydrates consumption. You must not refuse from them completely cause they are in many fruits and vegetables reach with vitamins and cellulose we need. You must limit only high-carb foodstuffs such as sugar, flour, potatoes.
Wonderful! All problems solved! You have next day nice soup from cauliflower. But to the end of the day you feel that you need something. At least small peace of bread. The second day you do not want cauliflower at all and feel yourself flat-out.
Conclusion: Simply to limit carbohydrates is not the way. Not to feel yourself flat-out you need protein. We move, our muscles work and need protein!
Well! We get chicken broth with cauliflower and not fat yoghurt. But hunger feeling remains!
What is the reason? The problem is that without sufficient supply of carbohydrates and fats protein can transform in glucose too! That is the reason of hunger!
What to do then?
Did you notice that small piece of ham can satisfy our hunger for a long time? From the other hand ham contains fat. How to grow thin with fat?
And here is the point. Fat can not transform into excess weight. Fat can not transform in glucose that can add you excess weight.
But why? Look here. During digestion fat dissociates on fatty acids and ketone bodies. The ketone bodies are the second resource of energy for us after glucose. Ketone bodies supply our hair, skin and nails with vitamins. You must know that excess glucose transforms in excess weight but excess ketone bodies never can do that. Excess ketone bodies simply go out from your organism.
Conclusion: Fats MUST be in our nutrition. We need them to look good. To digest a peace of pork you must spend many calories. So calories you received with this peace of pork will burn themselves.
And what we must limit without doubts is carbohydrates. Peace of ham will not make any harm to our weight loss process. But if you eat after that a piece of cake or a pastry it is another story. Excess carbohydrates will slow down splitting of fats and fats will be deposited in blood vessels. Do you need it? I do not think so.
Be healthy,
Nataly

The link between laryngeal cancer and asbestos are yet to mature but there are indications that both are actually related. It is not yet known however, if asbestos truly causes laryngeal cancer since there are still insignificant materials to ultimately conclude that it is actually one of the major causes. Nonetheless, authorities are continually searching for further indications to draw absolute conclusions on the esophageal cancer and asbestos exposure. But it has been proven that asbestos exposure could elevate a person's risk towards developing laryngeal cancer.
Asbestos is used as a material for fireproofing. This is why it is often found in ordinary houses where extreme measures for fire protection is used. But the major sources of asbestos come from places where it is used primarily in the work field. Workplaces know to expose people to high degrees of asbestos materials are shipyards, factories, automotive, construction sites and other industrial sites and workplaces.
Cancer of the larynx is a relatively rare disease. In every 100 cases of cancer, only 1 is likely to appear as a laryngeal cancer. In United Kingdom, there were only 2,200 laryngeal cancer patients diagnosed in 2002. In the United States however, the laryngeal cancer translates from a minimum percentage of 2% for all cancers per year to a maximum of 5%. This accumulates only around 10,000 laryngeal cancers diagnosed a year. From this number comes the 4,000 who suffer death from the disease. Even with this high toll of mortality, there are still higher numbers of asbestos cancer cases than that of laryngeal cancer. The age in which laryngeal cancer is normally diagnosed is anywhere from 50 to 70 years of age which furthers the relationship between the development of cancer and asbestos. This is because most asbestos cancer patients develop the diseases fully during these ages when the asbestos fiber had completely damaged the affected areas.
Laryngeal cancer of course affects the larynx. This is basically the passageway of air. Thus it is easy for the larynx to contract diseases from materials that are floating in the air. It is also responsible for giving protection to the lungs during the passage of food during swallowing.
Asbestos, on the other hand, could never endanger the health of a person unless it is inhaled as asbestos fiber. This fiber comes from damaged materials containing or are made of asbestos. The two are connected, namely asbestos and laryngeal cancer, because the larynx serves as the passageway of the asbestos fiber when it is being swallowed or inhaled.
Laryngeal cancer and asbestos cancer also project similarities of symptoms. These include signs such as difficulty of swelling, hoarseness of the voice, breathing difficulty, weight loss, ear pain, persistent cough and development of mass somewhere in the neck.
The treatment of any asbestos related cancer in the larynx is dependent on the degree of aggravation, the extent of damage, location and size of the cancerous cells, and the time when the cancer was diagnosed. There are several treatment options that are the same with treatment for other types of cancers. These include chemotherapy, radiation therapy and removal of the larynx, either partial or full removal. But the latter options are applied only on extremely serious conditions. If the removal of the larynx is elected, other means of speaking and breathing could be used.
Laryngeal cancer, just like mesothelioma and other asbestos relayed cancers could also be filed as a case in the court of law. If you are a victim of asbestos exposure that led to laryngeal cancer, it is best to seek legal advice immediately to know your options in filing a case. However, substantial relation between asbestos exposure, the root cause of the exposure such as working for a company that uses asbestos and laryngeal asbestos must be established.
If so, you are entitled to compensation either through full court trial or settlement. The average amount of asbestos cases compensation is $6 million in 2001 and the amount increases overtime. This is also dependent to other major factors such as the credibility of the claim, the reputation of the lawyer and the degree of liability the company has towards the person.
The value of liking asbestos to laryngeal cancer varies depending on the perspective you want to look at it. So long as there is evidence that will support the claim, linkage could always be established.
